Long Bio
Chandra K. Clarke has always been curious about, well, pretty much everything. She started her career as a journalist, covering everything from city council meetings to farm reports, before leaping into entrepreneurship and launching Scribendi.com in 1997. What began as a small proofreading service grew into a thriving global company that was acquired in 2017.
Never one to sit still, Chandra also earned a Master’s degree in Space Studies, and later a PhD in creative writing with a focus on science fiction. She’s been involved with groups like the Canadian Space Society and the Mars Society, and even built a citizen-science website that went on to earn a Webby Honouree nod. A long time environmental advocate, she volunteers with the David Suzuki Foundation to promote pollinator gardens.
When she’s not writing her long-running blog about the quirks of modern life, Chandra can be found speaking at events, tackling big ideas in her fiction and nonfiction books, or running Turns & Tales—a combination board game café and indie bookstore she owns with her partner. Whether she’s talking about technology, the environment, or just the oddities of everyday life, her work blends curiosity, humour, and a love of making complicated things easier to understand.
